Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Co., Ltd.is living in Hokkaido for the first time in the delivery business using the electric light truck “eCanter“.
Delivery Todock Implemented in 2022
The first demonstration of “eCanter” by a customer in Hokkaido will be carried out when it is used in the Coop Sapporo home delivery system “Todock“. In this demonstration, in Sapporo city where Coop Sapporo is a cold region, measured data such as actual mileage, charging delivery time and battery power consumption, especially in urban areas and slopes. Demonstration performance of Coop Sapporo will promote the reduction of CO2 emissions in logistics, and will demonstrate this as a further effort to make the home delivery business carbon-neutral in Hokkaido. The demonstration experiment is scheduled to be conducted in January 2022 in Sapporo city.
As the movement toward the realisation of carbon-neutral transportation expands worldwide, the “eCanter“, which emits no exhaust gas when driven by electricity, is a truck that contributes to the reduction of exhaust gas in delivery for various purposes. Since it has less noise and vibration than conventional diesel vehicles, it has been highly evaluated by domestic and overseas customers as a vehicle that meets delivery needs especially in urban transportation and reduces the burden on drivers.
“ECanter” is already operating in countries with diverse environments, from cold regions such as Norway and Finland to warm regions such as Spain. MFTBC sees this demonstration experiment in the delivery business as a good opportunity for customers to experience that it can be used without problems in cold regions of Japan, and will contribute to the business of customers aiming to realise carbon-neutral transportation.
