Commercial vehicle sales in Malaysia increased by 8.1 per cent to 6,877 units for the month of June.
Commercial Vehicle Production Decreased by 16 per cent
Based on data released by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), new car sales for the first half of 2023 increased 10.3 per cent to 366, 037 units. This, according to the association, was due to the delivery of backlog orders.
For the month of June, commercial vehicle sales increased by 8.1 per cent to 6,877 units. The YTD commercial vehicle sales as of the end of June 2023 was at 22,689 units, down by 5 per cent.
As for production, June 2023 saw 58,051 units of new vehicles produced, which was down by 3.1 per cent over the previous year figure of 59,885 units. Commercial vehicle production decreased by 16 per cent as compared to 2022. YTD new commercial vehicle production as of the end of June 2023 stood at 22,689 units, 5 per cent down compared to the corresponding period last year.
Sales in July, according to the association, are expected to be maintained at June 2023 levels.
