The Training Aims to Increase the Overall Standard of Tourism Service in Thailand
Around 600 public transport drivers in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket have been selected to attend English language training, organised by Thailand’s Department of Tourism, as a part of the tourism industry upskilling programme.
Public transport drivers are deemed important for tourism in Thailand because they interact with tourists frequently as frontliners. Department of Tourism Director-General, Jaturon Phakdeewanit, said the English training is designed to enhance the capabilities of tourism personnel.
“If public transport drivers can communicate effectively with international tourists, it will elevate the quality of service, create a positive impression, and provide a better overall experience for tourists,” Phakdeewanit said, as quoted by the Bernama news agency.
“As these drivers often serve as the first point of contact for foreign visitors, their ability to communicate is essential,” he added.
The goal of the training is to improve drivers’ English communication skills, enabling them to communicate accurately and raise the overall standard of tourism service in Thailand.
