Prasarana Wraps Up Relief Van Service in Putra Heights

Prasarana‘s free van service in Putra Heights was well received by the gas fire victims and local authorities.

Prasarana Appreciates All Parties Involved in the Relief Effort

Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has officially ended its free Rapid KL On-Demand van service on April 13, 2025, following the closure of the Temporary Relief Centre (Pusat Penempatan Sementara/PPS) at the Putra Heights Mosque Hall.

The service was introduced on April 3 in response to the gas pipeline fire incident that displaced residents in Putra Heights and nearby areas. Over the course of two weeks, the initiative benefited more than 1,100 individuals, including affected residents, volunteers, and government personnel, by providing transportation from the PPS to surrounding neighbourhoods such as Kampung Puchong Tengah and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru. The service allowed residents to retrieve essential belongings and documents, as well as facilitated clean-up efforts.

Launched under the Prasarana Prihatin CSR program, the initiative mobilised 10 vans and around 50 personnel, including bus captains, senior control officers, enforcement staff, and auxiliary police. Their role was to ensure smooth operations with minimal disruptions.

Prasarana also expanded the service to include daily shool transport for students from affected families. Five vans operated every weekday, transporting children to 19 schools across Putra Heights, USJ, Subang Jaya (Seafiled), and Shah Alam. A total of 103 students benefited from the program and the effort received positive feedback from parents and guardians.

According to Bernama, Prasarana‘s initiative was well received by the fire victims and local authorities for its swiftness and efficiency.

Prasarana would like to express its deepest appreciation to all parties who collaborated to make this initiative a success, including the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, the Selangor State Government, the Petaling District and Land Office (PDT), local authorities (PBT), the Selangor State Education Department, Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE), the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Selangor Volunteer Team (SERVE), as well as security personnel and volunteers,” the company wrote in an official statement as reported by Bernama.

The initiative in Putra Heights reaffirmed Prasarana‘s commitment to serving communities, especially in times of crisis. The company also pledged to continue delivering on its role as a “caring mobility partner” through its CSR efforts.
