After more than two years of pandemic life, Truck & Bus News sat down with Tan Keng Meng to get an update on Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd’s business and its latest developments, challenges, brand strategy for Foton and future plans.
Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd (ATM) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad (WTCH), and Tan being the Chief Executive Officer of WTCH oversees the business and performance of ATM.
Also present were Danny Ng, Senior General Manager, Angka-Tan Motor Sdn Bhd, and Eric Wang, General Manager, Southeast Asia Region, Beiqi Foton Motor Co, Ltd.
The interview began with the discussion on the impact of Covid-19 to the trucking industry. Overall, Tan notes that the Malaysian trucking industry has shown resilience in the light of various constraints that affected all aspects of life. “We saw a surge in e-commerce as a result of the lockdown that led to a demand for delivery services, culminating in an increase of warehouses and subsequently trucking requirement, especially for the last mile delivery and collection. The Covid-19 pandemic has shown how important the logistics and trucking sector is to the economy, a segment once considered unexciting industry.”
