Commercial Vehicle Production Up for First Seven Months
Based on the recent data of July 2023 released by the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the total number of vehicles sold in July 2023 was 63,676 units, which was a 1.7 per cent increase from the 62,593 units sold in June 2023.
The growth trend is not solely for the monthly comparison alone. It extends further when compared to July 2022, with a substantial 27.5 per cent surge from the 49,934 deliveries recorded in the same month last year. According to MAA, the rise was due to the recovery of supply chain issues and fulfilment of bookings received for new launches recently.
Commercial sales were up 7 per cent, from 5,360 units in July 2022 to 5,737 in July this year. The new commercial vehicle sales during the initial seven months of 2023 rose by 4.5 per cent when compared to the corresponding period in 2022 to 45,207 units.
In terms of production, there was a notable 28 per cent year-on-year increase from July 2022 to 66,862 vehicles. The year-to-date (YTD) production figures stand at an impressive 429,397 units, which was a 16 per cent surge compared to the same period in the previous year.
Commercial vehicle production for July increased 6 per cent over the previous year to 5,737 units. New commercial vehicle production for the first seven months of 2023 decreased by 3.1 per cent from the same period in 2022 to 26,933 units.
