Directly managed by China’s central government, the large-scale automobile manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd has been steadily growing its presence in its domestic market, as well as the lucrative international market.
Founded in 1969 at Shiyan City, Hubei Province, the company was originally known as Second Automobile Works, before it was renamed as the Dongfeng Motor company in 1992. Headquartered today in Wuhan, Hubei Province, the company has become one of the largest automobile manufacturers in China with product lines spanning from commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, new energy vehicles through to military vehicles. Apart from these products lines, key automobile assembly lines, parts, automobile equipment and automobile-related business ventures are the other core areas of the company. It has a total asset wealth of RMB325.6 billion and more than 160,000 employees.
Currently, Dongfeng’s business covers more than 20 domestics cities such as Wuhan, Shiyan, Xiangyang and Guanzhou, just to name a few. The company has a research and development facility in Sweden, overseas manufacturing bases in the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and other overseas bases in South America, Eastern Europe and West Asia. Dongfeng has therefore not only successfully crafted a name in the China automotive market, but has also gained popularity worldwide.
