Eid: Ministry of Transport to Ban Goods Vehicles Movement

The Road Ban and Speed Limit Reduction will be enforced by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) under the Ministry of Transport‘s directive.

Safety Number One Priority for MoT During Eid Season

The Malaysian Ministry of Transport (MoT) has temporarily banned the movement of goods vehicles in preparation for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations. A nationwide speed limit reduction is also set to be implemented.

The Driving Ban on Goods Vehicles (Road Ban) will be enforced by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) under MoT’s directive. The ban will be implemented for four days: March 29-30 before Eid and April 5-6 after the celebrations. The ban aims to ease traffic congestion and enhance road safety as millions of Malaysians are expected to return to their hometowns.

“The primary objective of this ban is to prevent traffic congestion and reduce accident risks by minimising the interaction between goods vehicles and private vehicles during this peak travel period,” the ministry stated in its official release.

Meanwhile, the National Speed Limit Reduction Order will take effect on all federal roads from March 28 to April 6, 2025, further reinforcing safety measures during the festive travel season.

JPJ will mobilise enforcement teams as part of Op Hari Raya Aidilfitri (HRA) 2025, collaborating with other enforcement agencies to ensure compliance with the regulations. These measures align with the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and traffic management during major national holidays.

The Ministry of Transport urges all road users to adhere to the rules and prioritise safety throughout their journeys.
