SAF-Holland implements its growth strategy 2020 with two acquisitions. The majority takeover of the Italian manufacturer V.Orlandi SpA allows the commercial vehicle supplier to expand its special-purpose range with coupling systems and components. With the full acquisition of York Transport Equipment (Asia) Pte Ltd, the company greatly strengthens its market position in the fast-growing transport markets in the APAC region and India.
SAF-Holland Acquires V.Orlandi (Italy) and York Group (Asia)
With V.Orlandi, SAF-Holland strengthens its position as the number two in fifth wheel couplings in the European market. The Italian company with 60 employees manufactures trailer couplings for trucks and special fifth wheel couplings at its two locations in northern Italy. With this acquisition, SAF-Holland expands its business with couplings and drawbar eyes for trailers and special-purpose commercial vehicles in the segments of industry, agriculture, forestry and mining. V.Orlandi achieves around 20 per cent of its turnover with coupling systems for agricultural and forestry vehicles. “On one hand, we use V.Orlandi to strengthen our strategic market position for fifth wheel couplings and expand our know-how for coupling systems for trailers and niche vehicles. On the other hand, we strengthen our position in important regional markets such as Russia, the Middle East and Australia. V.Orlandi has a strong spare-parts and accessories business that we could combine perfectly with our aftermarket activities,” summarises Detlef Borghardt, CEO of SAF-Holland.
Leading market position in India
With the acquisition of York Transport Equipment, SAF-Holland strengthens its position in the APAC region practically overnight. At the same time, the group of companies rises to become one of the market leaders for trailer axle and suspension systems in India, one of the fastest growing transport markets worldwide. In emerging markets in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam as well as Australia, SAF-Holland would have an appreciable position in the future through York. “We position ourselves for the foreseeable change towards technologically more sophisticated solutions in these countries early on. Similar to China, we expect that loading and safety regulations would be tightened successively during the coming years, as in other APAC markets. SAF-Holland is well prepared for this with its product portfolio,” explains Borghardt.
Strong position with spare-parts and accessories
York and its subsidiaries in the York Group are regarded as one of the leading suppliers for trailer axle and suspension systems in India. The Group with headquarters in Singapore sells a wide range of components for trucks and trailers in the entire APAC region. York has a strong market position, especially in heavy duty trailer axles and mechanical suspensions. On the Indian subcontinent, the Asian group of companies is one of the most important suppliers of spare-parts and accessories for trailers and semi-trailers. The York Group has established a powerful service and spare-parts network in this region in recent years, comprising more than 200 service points and dealers. York supplies most truck and trailer manufacturers in the region from important manufacturing sites in Pune (India) and Qingdao (China).

印度市场领先地位
随着收购York 运输设备，赛夫 – 华兰德一夕之间增强了其在亚太区的市场地位。同时，这家公司也成为印度卡车轴和悬吊系统的领导品牌，这也是全球发展最快速的运输市场之一。此外，透过收购York，赛夫 – 华兰德也将在东南亚新兴市场如泰国、印尼、越南以及澳洲拥有可观的市场前景与地位。

零件和配件的强劲地位
