Scania Hand Overs New P380 Prime Mover Trucks to Kontena Nasional
To coincide with the leading logistics company Kontena Nasional’s 40th anniversary celebra- tion, Scania Malaysia has delivered two new P380 LA6x2 MSZ prime mover trucks to the company in an official handover ceremony at its regional head office in Shah Alam. The first, bearing registration number BLL40, commemorates 40 years of partner- ship between Scania and Kontena Nasional while the second truck BLL400, signifies the 400th truck unit delivery to date since their partnership began in 1971. For the last two years alone, Scania has delivered over 50 prime mover units to support Kotena Nasion- al’s expansion into the logistics and distribution sector in Malaysia. Kontena Nasional is also one of the first logistics companies in Malaysia to sign a comprehen- sive Repair and Maintenance Contract with Scania since 1997.
Powered by a 380 hp engine, the Scania P 380 LA 6x2 MSZ prime mover is Euro 3 compliant for lower emis- sion levels. In addition to the standard Antilock Braking System(ABS) as well as Traction Control (TC)- which are now standard across the range for all Scania trucks, the new truck is also equipped with other advanced fea- tures such as steering wheel mounted cruise control and a speed limiter, ensuring a safer and more comfort- able driving experience.
“Scania is renowned for its great fuel-economy, high re- liability and performance and I am glad to say that they have been consistently meeting and even exceeding our expectations,” said Hood Osman, Chief Executive Officer of Kontena Nasional. “ More importantly, Scania also provides comprehensive after sales support that keeps our fleet well maintained and operating at opti- mum conditions.”
Meanwhile, Scania Malaysia Managing Director James Armstrong said after the 400th Scania prime mover handing over ceremony that they aim to sell some 630 vehicles in Malaysia in 2012, which was a 15 per cent growth from 550 vehicles sold in 2011.
“Of the 550 units sold in 2011,” he continued, “220 were prime mover trucks, representing a 15 per cent growth in prime mover sales in Malaysia compared to 2009.”
Serving some 400 clients in Malaysia, Scania recog- nises Malaysia as a growth source and is looking to tap more business and investment opportunities, Arm- strong said. He also revealed that the company will open new workshops in Port Dickson and Kota Bharu in 2012, bringing to nine the number of Scania Malaysia’s workshops in the country.
