ZF Malaysia Reveals Future Plans at Meet and Gre

In the recent Meet and Greet Session with the media, ZF Malaysia revealed its operations, business developments and future plans in the country.
As one of the world’s largest automobile suppliers, ZF Malaysia had been present in Malaysia since 1981 and currently has 3 entities in the country – ZF Sales and Ser- vice (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, ZF Steering (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and ZF Chassis System Sdn Bhd.
According to Siew Chee Kok, Managing Director of ZF Sales and Service (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the company operated from a 14,000-sq ft office located at the Nouvelle In- dustrial Park in Kota Damansara. It provided a complete range of aftersales services, supported by its own comprehensive service network and extensive web of networks across the country.
“Today, ZF is a key player in the Malaysian public transport network with more than 1,000 RapidKL, RapidKuantan and RapidPenang city buses fitted with ZF’s EcoLife 6-speed automatic transmission system. This revolutionary powerful automatic trans- mission is a compelling solution that ZF offers the public transport to face the many challenges in the shape of growing competitive pressure, rising fuel prices, larger vehicles and environmental protection.”
With the fully automatic gearchanges without tractive force interruption, Siew said, EcoLife offered torque of up to 2,100Nm and ensured driving comfort at the highest level. The bus ran quietly, gearchanges were hardly noticed and powerful accelera- tion increased the average vehicle speed. The integrated primary retarder preserved the service brakes and boosted braking performance by up to 40 per cent. Transport operators could benefit from the ideal combination of lower fuel consumption (re- duced approximately by 5 per cent) and improved performance. The savings effect was increased further with the gearshift strategy of the TopoDyn Life that optimised fuel economy. These benefits could be felt, especially on roads with varied topogra- phy.
In addition, EcoLife increased the resale value of the bus since the durable universal genius slotted in perfectly with the intended application in the bus‘s new life, irrespec-
