Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said, the government will try its best to address the concerns of the PMBOA’s members.
PMBOA Meets Up with Transport Ministry
Pan Malaysian Bus Operators Association (PMBOA) President Datuk Aasfar Ali, along with the leaders of component associations from over Malaysia, met up with Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong to listen to their concerns and challenges recently.
In a Facebook post on 2th July, Wee said, the Transport Ministry has pledged to listen to the views of public operators and to cooperate with them wherever possible. He understood that since the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) on 18th March, it had been tough for the Association’s members.
“During the recovery MCO period, the government will try its best to address the concerns of the PMBOA’s members. In order to help them, the Transport Ministry through the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), had already expedited all payments to its members up to February 2020 from the Interim Stage Bus Support Fund. Subsequent applications for the fund are also in the midst of being processed.”
Other issues raised included the application of financial aid for bus operators during the MCO and post Covid-19, setting reasonable fares, as well as re-examining the service lifespan of buses in the light of new technologies and proper maintenance practices.
