Global logistics provider Dachser put 12 fully electric MAN eTGX trucks into service on 21st February.

Dachser Enhances Green Logistics with MAN eTGX Electric Trucks

With these special ultra-low-liner truck tractors, Dachser expanded its steadily growing fleet of e-trucks to its high-volume transport business with mega trailers.

With an interior height increased by 20cm and a loading area just under 100cm above the road, these mega trailers provide an additional eight cubic metres of cargo space while staying within Germany’s four-metre height limit. They could accommodate 67 Euro pallets using double-deck loading, making them a more efficient alternative to standard trailers.

The 12 new eTGX trucks were collected directly from MAN’s Munich plant and deployed across Dachser’s locations in Germany. Additionally, Müller Fresh Food Logistics, a Dutch subsidiary acquired by Dachser in 2023, operated an eTGX since December 2024.

“This marks another step in making e-trucks viable for long-haul transport,” said Stefan Hohm, Dachser Chief Development Officer, upon receiving the new electric trucks from MAN’s Research & Development Executive Board Member, Dr Frederik Zohm. “Since 2021, we relied entirely on trailers with increased interior height in our European group network due to their efficiency. Now, with the MAN eTGX ultra-low-liner, we could haul these trailers fully electrically, furthering our commitment to sustainable logistics.”

Dr Zohm emphasised the growing momentum of electric trucking, stating: “With logistics leaders like Dachser adopting e-trucks, the shift to zero-emission transport is becoming a reality. Our MAN e-truck’s modular battery design ensures adaptability across various transport applications, delivering up to 500 kilometres of range — even in ultra-low-liner configurations.”

This latest addition reinforces Dachser’s strategy to scale up electric mobility and drive sustainable innovation in logistics.

By pursuing a long-term climate protection strategy and focusing on efficiency, innovation and inclusive responsibility, Dachser paves the way for sustainable logistics together with its customers and partners. The company has deployed battery-electric vehicles since 2015 for zero-emission city-centre deliveries and now operates three e-mobility hubs in Germany, where it tests emission-free trucks for group logistics. These hubs also explore the synergy among photovoltaic systems, battery storage and intelligent charging infrastructure. With the addition of 12 new MAN eTGX trucks, Dachser’s e-truck fleet now exceeds 120 vehicles operating across Europe for short- and long-haul transport.

MAN e-truck: Technological innovation is the key

The MAN eTGX ultra-low-liner is seen as a pioneer in its class. With a mounted height of just 950mm and a compact 3.75-metre wheelbase, it maximises battery capacity while delivering a range of up to 500 kilometres. Its modular battery system offers flexibility, with four, five or six battery packs providing power levels of 449 to 544hp. The eTGX supports fast CCS charging (up to 375kW) and could be equipped with the latest MCS standard that enables rapid intermediate charging at up to 1 megawatt during driver breaks.

Beyond the eTGX, MAN’s electric truck lineup includes the eTGS for heavy-duty applications and eTGL for light distribution, reinforcing MAN’s commitment to advancing e-mobility in commercial transport.
