Hap Seng Trucks Distribution Sdn Bhd (HSTD) unveiled its latest fleet of commercial vehicles – Mercedes-Benz Actros 4×2 and 6×2, Mercedes-Benz Arocs 6×4 and FUSO TF Canter – all featuring Euro V engines.

Mercedes-Benz and FUSO Lead the Way with Euro V Efficiency and Performance

These trucks are reportedly engineered to deliver ‘top-notch’ performance, enhanced fuel efficiency and improved sustainability to reflect the company’s commitment to ‘Creating Sustainability Together’. Built to meet the evolving needs of businesses, these trucks are said to set new standards in reliability, safety and driver comfort in catering to modern fleets that prioritise efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The Actros, a trailblazer in long-haul transport since 1996 and now in its fifth generation known as the New Actros, continues to lead with its balance of economy, comfort, safety and reliability. The Actros garnered  numerous awards worldwide to establish itself as a pioneer in truck technology.

Meanwhile, the prime mover model of Arocs which is introduced here for the first time, is designed for heavy and construction haulage. The smart powerhouse, which is conceptualised for these sectors, offers ‘superb’ load handling with three-axle variants.  Built to handle demanding environments, the Arocs is available as a 6×4 heavy duty tractor. It is crafted to meet the needs of industries that require robust, reliable vehicles capable of hauling heavy loads while maintaining efficiency and safety.

Described as an icon for decades by the company, the FUSO TF Canter, a versatile light-duty truck, was refined to offer a new type of driving experience that delivers safety and peace of mind to those in and outside the vehicle. It is equipped with advanced functions that support safe daily driving and pursues user-friendly functions and comfortable, fatigue-free driving. With advanced safety functions and a refined design, the TF Canter is said to symbolise an upgrade in functionality and aesthetics by featuring FUSO’s signature ‘black belt’ front face styling.

Supporting the push towards decarbonisation, these vehicles come equipped with the latest engine technology compliant with Euro V emission standards. Three variants of the Actros and two variants of the Arocs are available. The Actros models are powered by the 10.7-litre OM470 straight-six turbodiesel engine that delivers 326hp at 1600rpm and 1700Nm of torque at 1100rpm for the Actros 2033. The Actros 2640 sees output increased to 394hp and 1900Nm. The Actros 2645 features the larger 12.8-litre OM471 engine that boosts power to 449hp while torque is higher at 2200Nm at 1100rpm.

For the two Arocs variants, the 3340 model is powered by the OM470 engine while the 3348 has the OM471. The OM460 has similar engine output but the latter sees higher outputs of 476hp and 2300Nm torque.

The TF Canter, with wheelbase lengths ranging from 3,400 to 4,750mm, is fitted with the 4P10 Euro V 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine that is B30 compliant for all the variants. This engine delivers 150hp at 2839rpm and 370Nm of torque from 1400 to 2839rpm. They are available with manual and DUONIC AMT automated dual-clutch transmission.

Both the Actros and Arocs utilise Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to meet Euro V emission standards. The latest engine generation is proven as not only powerful, but also class leading when it comes to emission reduction. The required Diesel Exhaust Fluid, commonly referred to as AdBlue, is available from all Hap Seng Trucks workshops. In contrast, the TF Canter uses the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology that eliminates the need for AdBlue. The SCR uses a chemical process to convert NOx into harmless nitrogen and water vapour while the EGR uses thermal processes such as heat recovery from exhaust gases to reduce the amount of CO2 in the engine’s exhaust gas stream. Although the technology is different, the result is the same: cleaner, greener transport solutions compliant with stringent emission norms.

Derrick Sim, Chief Executive of Hap Seng Trucks Distribution, emphasised the significance of this launch by stating that the introduction of the Euro V generation of Mercedes-Benz Actros and FUSO TF Canter was a pivotal step towards a more sustainable future. He highlighted that the company was not merely building trucks but creating a legacy of ‘environmental stewardship and operational excellence’.

All vehicles now come equipped with Trac360 Telematics as a standard feature to enable operators to maximise fleet utilisation. HSTD’s extensive service network further ensures minimal downtime to enhance the overall user experience by combining innovation with sustainability.

To give transport operators a hands-on experience with these new models, HSTD is organising a nationwide roadshow to showcase the latest Actros, Arocs and TF Canter models. These trucks not only promise to enhance operational efficiency but also offer some of the most environmentally friendly options available in the market today.

Sim further noted: “The TF Canter is perfect for a variety of applications, from urban deliveries to challenging terrains due to its multiple original wheelbase options from FUSO Japan. This helps to minimise body building speed and offers greater durability. The TF Canter’s efficiency in diverse environments ensures that meeting logistical needs are met while minimising the industry’s carbon footprint.”

In conclusion, the launch of Hap Seng Trucks Distribution‘s Euro V Mercedes-Benz Actros, Arocs and FUSO TF Canter highlights the company’s commitment to the principle of ESC, which standards for Efficiency, Safety and Comfort. These trucks provide market-leading fuel efficiency, cutting-edge safety features, and a smooth, comfortable driving experience to set a new benchmark for sustainable and efficient transport solutions in Malaysia.
