Rapid Bus provided 30 buses in Kuala Lumpur and 12 buses in Penang, operating around the clock from February 10-12.
Rapid Bus’ Initiative Aimed to Ease Congestion during the 2025 Thaipusam Celebration
Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd provided 42 free shuttle buses in Kuala Lumpur and Penang to mark the Thaipusam celebration on February 11, 2025. The buses were provided to transport devotees and visitors to the Sri Subramanian Swamy Temple in Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur, and the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple on Jalan Kebun Bunga, Penang.
A total of 30 buses in Kuala Lumpur (Rapid KL) and 12 buses in Penang (Rapid Penang) were in operation around the clock. According to Rapid Bus‘ official statement, this initiative aimed “to ease congestion and encourage the use of public transport to reach these key locations”.
In Kuala Lumpur, three routes were provided. The BC02 route operated between Pasar Seni Bus Hub and Batu Caves from 6:00 AM on February 10 until midnight on February 11, with buses arriving every 10 minutes. The BC03 route connected LRT Gombak Station to Batu Caves, running continuously from midnight on February 11 until midnight on February 12. The BC04 route linked MRT Kampung Batu Station to Batu Caves, operating during the same timeframe.
In Penang, the ST01 route ran between Terminal Weld Quay (Jetty) and Hospital Adventist. The first trip departed at 7:00 AM on February 10, while the last trip concluded at 2:00 AM on February 12. The frequency of the service varied between 20 to 60 minutes, depending on ferry schedules.
To ensure smooth operations, Rapid Bus collaborated with enforcement agencies and local authorities (PBT). The operational team also worked non-stop during the celebration period to provide a comfortable journey for all.
