Scania and IKTBNDT have recently produced their first batch 10 apprentices who successfully passed the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Tahap 2 (SKM Level 2).
Scania Continues to Groom Young Talents
Scania, the First Heavy Commercial Vehicle Manufacturer in Malaysia to be accredited as the National Dual Training System/Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional (NDTS/SLDN) Centre by the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, recently produced its first batch of 10 apprentices who successfully passed the Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Tahap 2 (SKM Level 2).
NDTS, or SLDN, is a method based on an industry-driven training concept that is operated through collaboration between companies and training institutions. ‘Dual’ means training in two learning situations such as the SLDN Accredited Centre in Scania Malaysia that covers 70 to 80 per cent practical training (hands-on performance) and the IKTBNDT academic learning that covers 20 to 30 per cent of theory (knowledge).
Nine technicians who are currently attached to the Bukit Jelutong and Port Klang workshop as well as an external student that was undergoing training in IKTBNDT have successfully passed.
“I am thrilled to get my first official certification, the SKM Level 2 with the Scania/IKTBNDT collaboration. I believe this would open the path towards my career progress in Scania,” said Wan Mohd Zakhran Wan Ismail, Repair Technician, Scania Malaysia Workshop, Bukit Jelutong.
Meanwhile, Izzat Syafiq Ahmad Tarmedi, Repair Technician Scania Malaysia Workshop, Port Klang, said: “I was nervous about getting through the final SKM Level 2 exam but when I found out that I passed, it boosted my confidence and commitment to perform better in my current post.”
“At first, I was not sure about going back to school but my colleague encouraged me to sign up for the SKM Level 2 certificate. Now I am grateful that I have passed and look forward to the SKM Level 3 when it is offered,” said Muhd Yusmi Md Yusof, Repair Technician, Scania Malaysia Workshop, Port Klang.
“Congratulations to all the nine successful candidates from Scania that completed the National Dual Training System with the SKM Level 2 certification and passed the final examination. A big thank you to IKTBNDT and its trainers/lecturers. I am really proud of our technicians for having the tenacity to succeed,” said Heba El Tarifi, Managing Director, Scania Southeast Asia.
