These vehicles are being brought in from China by the company in CKD form and assembled locally at Jalan Kapar, Klang by R & A Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd. With the latest test- ing equipment, their QA department is claimed to be able to provide a more stringent quality control to ensure bet- ter product quality.
In terms of market positioning, Gwee explains that CAM always believe in being “Consistent, Active and Mobile, which is clearly reflected in the acro- nym of the company’s name. “We are here to provide customers with a value for money option with products that provide the same level of quality as the new light commercial vehicles in the current market.”
Gwee knows that it is not easy to build a new brand in the market, especially a Chinese brand. However, Gwee is full of confidence while sharing their mar- keting strategies.
“CAM is being built into a wholesale philosophy where we can offer our cus- tomers a wide range of different prod- ucts to sell and market under one roof. To increase brand awareness, we have participated in many events such as the 2011 Bukit Larut 4x4 International Challenge, Negeri Sembilan Truck Show, CNY Carnival at I-City in Shah Alam, etc. In addition, we are also very active in various roadshows to support our dealers as well as having launches in our dealers’ showrooms. ”
At present, the company has 115 deal- ers across Malaysia, including 46 in East Malaysia. Amongst them, 46 are service dealers and the remainder are 3S and 1S dealers. Gwee stressed that besides distribution channels, it is important that CAM has sufficient after sales service points to take care of CAM products that are still under
