and significant maintenance cost, followed by 27 per cent caused by incorrect fit- ting, 21 per cent due to contaminated mechanical damage, and 9 per cent from over service. Improper lubrication led to the direct cost of bearing replacement, labour to replace bearings, and unscheduled downtime that affected customer de- livery commitments. Indirect cost included work safety, wasted lube, environment issues, and higher labour cost due to inefficient manual lubrication practices.
“Our Multi-Line System ensures proper lubrication of critical components of your vehicle for safe operation and to save cost. The benefits of using our system are many. It is easy to operate and virtually maintenance free; the output of grease and timer are fully adjustable; and it is able to provide precise lubrication delivery whenever the vehicle is in motion. Its multi-line concept enables lubrication on each bearing independently, thus in the event of a damaged feed line, it does not affect the entire system in operation,” he stressed.
The system was capable of handling lubricants from SAE80/90 oil up to and in- cluding NLGl grade 2 grease, and with 4mm OD semi rigid black nylon tube that was UV stabilised and rated at 140 bar (14N/M).
“Our AC range of pumps is compact and electrically operated multi-line systems that come in various reservoir sizes. They are simple but highly effective pumps that will provide reliable and virtually maintenance free operation in a wide variety of applications. AC1 and AC2 are able to serve up to a maximum of 36 points, while AC3 is able to serve up to a maximum of 60 points.”
The potential saving was significant, according to Guhan, when the Interlube cen- tralised lubrication was installed in a commercial vehicle. It helped to save typical average bearing replacement costs that included kingpins, track rod joints, slack adjusters, 5th wheel plate, spring pins and shackle pins, wheel hub bearings, spring bush, steer arm, front ball joints as well as other costs such as manual lubrica- tion, vehicle downtime, fittings and repairs. In addition, it could increase vehicle life and profit margin potential. It also provided better safety and road holding. Guhan explained that with no seized bearings, which might otherwise cause an accident, the life of power steering components was increased. This meant less fatigue for the driver, better ride characteristics through correct lubrication of the springs and shackle pins, and no worries of missing bearings during manual greasing.
All Interlube lubrication products came with a 2-year warranty and the investment could be recovered in a 6 to 7-month period. Guhan said the company had their installation and servicing technicians that covered the whole of Malaysia, special- ising in the design, installation and maintenance of centralised lubrication and oil filtration systems. A monthly monitor service package was available to help the users monitor their lubrication system.
“Although the system can use any universal NLG1 grade 2 grease, we can also supply grease to the clients,” he added.
Apart from the Multi-Line System, the company had brought in the Filtakleen Oil Fil- tration on System and Filtakleen Fuel Decontaminator. “Fitting a by-pass filter sys- tem to an engine will significantly extend oil life through the removal of fine particles down to 1 micron and 100 per cent water removal, while the Fuel Decontaminator will ensure that your engine is continuously supplied with clean, contamination-free fuel, thereby prolonging its life span and maximising operational capability.”
