  existing and potential customers. It allows us to showcase our complete range of machinery and equipment, and how we put them into operation for customers,” she added.
When we toured the factory, we were impressed by the cleanliness of the factory, and the state-of- the-art highly automated machines and equipment that reduced workforce significantly. “This is the new concept of a tread liner plant that we would like to promote in this region. All of our machinery is highly automated, from the Precure Press to Pre- cure Tread Finishing Line, which include sanding, precure tread cementing and precure tread coiling machines. Our full range of tread liner equipment is able to help the industry reduce manpower by about 20 per cent. We believe that this will be the way the industry will move forward,” said the Group Chair- man Steven Aw.
At present, the plant produced 80-90 tonnes of liners per month. This year, the target was to achieve 100 tonnes. However, Susan said, quantity was not the main focus. “The quality of tread liners in the mar- ket varies significantly. To ensure a constant quality for our retreads, it is important to produce our own tread liners. Our patented AT001 is a well-proven tread design and quality, and is able to deliver high mileage; it increases mileage by up to 10 per cent when compared to other brands in the same class. Besides our own consumption, our tread liners are solely for the export market to avoid conflicts. The market response for AT001 is overwhelming.”
Environmental awareness had led people to seek an alternative use of scrap tyres. One of the ways was to turn scrap tyres into rubber dust, which was currently high in demand. According to Steven, Ac- ten set up its own tyre recycling plant in 2011, and launched its full range of tyre recycling equipment that was priced at 1 million ringgit, including acces- sories. It was suitable for small plants and was ca- pable of producing 1 tonne of rubber dust per day.
Currently, Steven said, the company had suc- cessfully promoted its tyre recycling equipment in neighbouring countries, especially Indonesia and Thailand where the response was encouraging. Lo- cally, it had sold 10 full sets of the equipment and the majority of the buyers were used tyre collectors. “We also aim to aggressively penetrate the retread- ing market. I strongly encourage retreaders to con- sider expanding into rubber dust manufacturing. This venture not only allows them to turn waste into money, but also helps them play their part in reduc- ing the environmental impact.”
In conclusion, Susan said, Acten’s company vision was to further optimise a tyre life cycle by imple- menting its machinery and technology know-how, tightening control over its retreaded tyre’s quality, and investing in the tyre recycling industry. Hence, Acten was clearly moving in the direction of its vi- sion.

目前,胡东义说,该公司成功将其轮胎再生设备推广到邻国,特 别是印尼和泰国,并获得了令人鼓舞的反应。在本地,他们销 售了10套完整的设备,而大部分的买家是轮胎收集商。“我们正 在积极地渗透翻胎市场。我鼓励翻胎业者考虑扩展进入橡胶屑制 造,因为这个行业不但能够协助他们将废物变成金钱,而且协助 他们为环保尽一份心力。
总的来说,王虹玲指出,高昇公司的愿景是通过机械和技术知 识、严格的翻胎品质控制及投资于轮胎再生行业,进一步优化轮 胎的生命周期。为此,高昇正明确地朝其愿景迈进。
