 Hyva Lift’s 18 Ton Hookloader Increases Payload
At a time when many governments are enforcing stricter load limitations on truckers, the need to create available payload is becoming increasingly important to professional hauliers.
Dutch hydraulics group Hyva recently launched a new 18 ton hookloader for skiploading operations. This adds to its existing Titan range of hookloaders and has advantages that will help skip loader truckers carry more payload more safely.
The advent of the 18 ton Titan hookloader creates the opportunity to improve operators‘ running costs on the commonly used three axle skiploader trucks. This 18 ton hookloader extends the range of 20 to 30 ton equipment already available in the Titan range.
The 18 ton hookloader has been thoroughly redesigned and op- timised to reduce weight; as a consequence there is a weight saving over the current 20 ton version, of some 500kg. Allowing operators to carry an extra half ton payload.
Arjo Oosterveld, Marketing Manager Western Europe, Hyva, commented, “Currently, on a three axle truck, customers usually mount a 20 ton hookloader which results in a maximum of 14.5 ton payload. However, with this new 18 ton hookloader, together with an optimized chassis, the payload can increase to over 15 tons. Already, in day-to-day operations, 15.3 tons of payload is not an exception anymore.”
The 18 ton hookloader has a buildup height of 220 mm, compared to the standard 250 mm, which is beneficial for lots of applications. As a result, the total frontal surface of the hookloader and truck combination is reduced by about 1 per cent, which Hyva claim has equivalent savings on fuel costs and CO2 emissions.
