Hyva Skiploader Gets a New Remote
In addition to the new 18 ton skiploader, Hyva has developed an all new radio controlled operation system for its Titan range.
The Titan Radio Remote (TRR) combines skiploader operation with proven wireless, electro-hydraulic operating technologies in the skiploader market. As a result, the TRR system has the twin advantages of being both readily familiar and fully proven. Hyva’s unique TRR skiploader was introduced to selected customers in the UK in 2015 and has been extensively tested.
One of the first Hyva TRR units was supplied to Translease Services, sup- pliers of high quality vehicles and plant based in Surrey, UK. Tim Scott, Director, is in no doubt about the extra advantages the system offers, com- menting, “Skiploaders often have to operate in either confined or perhaps semi off-road conditions where container handling can be difficult at best.”
The TRR allows the operator to load and unload from the position that gives him the best view of the operation. This increases accuracy of operation and of course safety because the operator can position himself to ensure he has a clear view of the loading area.
The TRR helps speed up loading and unloading with built in load sensing for a faster lift in combination with simultaneous operation of support legs, main arms and telescopic arms. All functions on the remote employ propor- tional actuation to give the required accuracy in difficult circumstances and ensure careful, controlled operation.
The “one hand ergonomic” remote itself is both shockproof and dustproof and comes with a standard protection bracket. “Backlighting” of the remote allows it to be operated during night time. The standard delivered “belt clip” and magnet to temporarily store the remote, together with the fact that it can be operated with working gloves makes life easier for the operator. Also, working lights and extra functions such as horn or beacon can be operated with the remote.
Storing and recharging happens in a loading dock which is installed in the cabin. This prevents the possibility of dead batteries and secures the re- mote in the cabin while driving. If using the sheeting system or hydraulic container locking, these first need to be fully opened before other functions can be operated to prevent mistakes and therefore damage.
The “listen before talk” technology makes sure there will be no interfer- ence with other radio remotes. And, the feedback being given from the skiploader to the display shows if all arms and legs are in “safe” mode prior to driving or operating.
As with all development today, there is always an eye on economy and the TRR is no different. The driver can operate the engine of his truck remotely, as and when he needs the power and the engine speed is controlled by the system so that it raises and lowers its revs as the power is required. This saves fuel and reduces CO2 emissions.
Needless to say, the conventional controls remain installed on the truck as a failsafe.
