In keeping with the UNECE safety regulations, the all-new Isuzu Elf has its door mirrors moved to the flanks and mounted on the doors rather than on the fenders. By doing so, not only does this reduce the risk of serious pedestrian injury from the protrusion, the position on the doors gives drivers an improved angle of view and brings the mirror closer to hand for easier adjustment.
A significant step forward in truck safety comes in the use of radial tyres on all the new Isuzu Elf trucks. Apart from the obvious benefit of better stability and better tread life, radial tyres run cooler making them less prone to blow-outs, offer better fuel economy and create more consistent tread wear.
Matching up to the improved grip is the use of large-diameter brakes with wider brake shoes. These offer better stopping power as well as quicker temperature recovery, so tackling hilly terrain can be done more safely than before. To get more stopping power to the ground no matter the load the trucks are carrying, a load sensing proportion- ing valve (LSPV) is fitted as standard in the all the Isuzu Elf while the NQR is further equipped with a Hydraulic Brake Booster (HBB) to ensure superior stopping performance. All these safety elements have made the Isuzu Elf one of the safest trucks in the market today.
Other features include a large cab design that provides a more spa- cious cabin and lends benefits to visibility as the windscreen and win- dows can be made larger and more upright. This allows a view angle of 22.3 degrees, making for safer operation from the reduced blind spots. In addition, Isuzu Elf has doors that open to 90-degree angles for easy getting in and out of the truck.
Despites its larger dimensions, the truck remains aerodynamically ef- ficient due to the rounded corners that channel air flow around the truck, thereby reducing drag and improving fuel economy.
According to Isuzu Malaysia, the basic factory warranty is 3 years or 100,000km, whichever comes first.
With the introduction of the all-new Isuzu Elf, Isuzu Malaysia expects to continue commanding 44 per cent of the light duty truck market this year with sales expected to reach a new high of 6,500 units this year, including 1,500 of the Isuzu Elf.
