afety Features
Transport Department announced that it was compulsory for all buses to be equipped with speed limiters. To support the government’s concern, HMSM adds that its new bus line-up comes with safety enhanced features.
“Safety is the most important issue while on the road. Putting safety first is necessary to avoid any unwanted road traffic accidents that could harm other road users,” says Ken Iwamoto, Managing Director of HMSM.
All upgraded Hino models are equipped with Antilock Braking System (ABS) that increases braking effectiveness. A driver could experience better control of the bus especially during bad weather conditions when the road surface is slippery. By com- plying with the government’s regulation, Hino’s new bus series comes with speed lim- iters set at 100km/h to prevent speeding. Moreover, the installation of the integrated transmission retarder acts as auxiliary braking to improve braking performance and help avoid overheating of the existing service brake.
The new RN8JSNA model comes with a higher 285PS horsepower engine compared to the previous model. HMSM said this gave the drivers a smooth driving experience. Along with the RM1ESKU model, these buses were equipped with 6 bellows air sus- pension to provide better ride comfort, especially for long distance travel and going through winding roads. With these new busses, Hino also announced an upgrade of the existing warranty to 12-months and 100,000 kilometres, whichever came first, on chassis manufacturer defects only.
Launched in the presence of the Manager for Product Planning of Hino Motors Ltd, Japan, Kenjiro Inoue, Hino dealers, coach builders and the media.
“One of the biggest efforts that Hino had put ahead recently, in line with the govern- ment’s concern on road safety, was the investment on upgrading Hino Total Support Customer Center (HTSCC) that provides human training. The training is not only limited to the familiarisation with truck driving or fuel saving technique but also on highlighting defensive driving that currently benefits all HINO drivers,” said Iwamoto.
