In addition, he stressed that the OEMs had warned that the maxi- mum an engine could accept was B7 and they needed more data and studies on B10. The OEMs also stated that their engine warranty did not cover vehicles that ran on B10.
B7 refers to a blend of 7 per cent palm methyl ester (PME) and 93 per cent die- sel, while B10 is a blend of 10 per cent PME and 90 per cent petroleum diesel.
“Biodiesel releases more nitrogen dioxide that is not only harmful to the environ- ment but also humans,” Tan added.
AMH President Nazari Akhbar said the impact of B10 on the trucks would not be seen immediately but 3 to 4 years down the road when one would notice the higher maintenance costs. He also revealed that the Association only had a meeting with the Malaysian Palm Oil Board once in June. Though it was told that there would be another meeting for further discussions, there had been no news since then.
The association members represent 70 per cent of hauliers in the country who own some 13,000 trucks.
Also present at the press conference were truck manufacturers Scania, MAN and Volvo, who were supporting the associations’ call for the government to conduct more studies on B10 before rolling it out to the market.

“The Dongfeng Golf Challenge was initiated in 2013 mainly to bring all our customers, dealers, business associates and other acquaintances together and to fortify relationships with one another,” stated Lim Kin Chze, Business Development Manager of DFCV.
“The response we received from our stakeholders over the past years was overwhelming year by year. We are planning to make it a bigger event at this new venue in May 2017,” added Lim.
